Screenwriter Andrey Zolotarev spoke about his work on the film "Pinocchio"

According to the screenwriter, for him, "Pinocchio" initially acted as a story about separation and about the transition of a person into adulthood through a journey with all the "fears and horrors." In the process of working on the project, the plot began to turn into a fairy tale about special children and inclusivity.

"Everything is clear with us, Pinocchio is not a doll, but a person. Just born almost immediately. He is amazing, he has a feature that gives him a lot of weakness, social insecurity, but also a lot of strength, because he has skills and capabilities that an ordinary person does not have," Zolotarev said.

He also noted the peculiarities of working on musical numbers in the film. According to Zolotarev, this is a complex process in which the screenwriter enters into a "tight bond" with the artist and the director. The screenwriter outlines the semantic content, as in the libretto, and then the team discusses how the number will work.
