Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia on January 15 that an unusual optical phenomenon, the "false sun", can be observed in the sky during the winter months. This effect, as explained by the expert, occurs when several circumstances occur at once, which include reduced air humidity parameters (for a "false sun" to occur, it must be dry) and the crystallization of water vapor, which usually occurs at high altitude. When all the factors coincide, a person gets the impression that he sees two stars at the same time, sometimes even noticing halos in the sky — luminous rings located around the Sun.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
