The United States is withdrawing aviation assets from the Persian Gulf region, fearing retaliation from Tehran after the use of force against the Iranian state. This was reported on January 15 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing a representative of the Persian Gulf countries.

"The United States is also withdrawing its air force from the region," the publication says.

The representative of the Persian Gulf countries suggested that this measure was taken in order to "not be in the range" of Iran's retaliatory actions in the event of an American strike.

Earlier that day, NBC reported that American leader Donald Trump was considering launching a short-term and decisive military strike against Iran without escalating the conflict into a protracted one. Trump's entourage also expresses concerns about the US' readiness to fend off a potential response from Tehran, including due to limited resources in the region.
