The United Kingdom, at the request of Denmark, sent a representative of its armed forces to Greenland to participate in the preparation of the Arctic Endurance exercises. This was reported on January 15 by The Independent newspaper with reference to the office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.

As noted, the British serviceman will be part of a group of military personnel from other NATO member countries who also arrived on the island ahead of the start of the exercises.

Starmer's office said that London shares US President Donald Trump's concerns about Greenland's security, including amid alleged threats from China and Russia.

"We share President Trump's concern about the security situation in the Far North. NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force are strengthening security in the Far North," said the representative of the British government.

He added that holding such exercises is considered as one of the tools to increase the island's security level.
