Frosts of up to -55 degrees were predicted in the Irkutsk region

Abnormally cold weather is expected in the Irkutsk region in the coming days. The temperature will drop to -55 degrees.

According to IrkutskMedia news agency, light snow is expected in the region on January 16. Fog is possible in the morning and the wind speed will be 3-8 m/s. The air temperature will drop to -35...-40 degrees at night, and -47 degrees when it clears. It is expected to reach -55 degrees in the north and in the upper Lena regions.

Frosts will remain on January 17. Snowfall is forecast on the roads.

The cold air mass will retain its influence on the Angara region until Epiphany. The average daily air temperature will be 7-15 degrees below the climatic norm.

Frosts are also forecast in the Leningrad and Pskov regions, where temperatures will be 7-10 degrees below normal. In the Central Federal District, deviations from the norm will reach 13 degrees.
