Import of foreign cars through Vladivostok customs increased by 28% in a year

By the end of 2025, 347.4 thousand foreign cars intended for personal use were registered for import at Vladivostok customs. This is 28% more than a year earlier, when the volume amounted to 271.4 thousand units, TASS reported on January 15, citing the customs press service.

As for the figures for December last year, last month the customs processed the import of 25.2 thousand vehicles against 21 thousand a year earlier.

Employees of the city customs said that cars from Japan and South Korea are most often imported through it. The top five brands in terms of volume are Toyota, Honda, Kia, BMW, Hyundai.

It is noted that in October and November 2025 (before the increase in the recycling fee), the volume of imported cars entering the Russian Federation through the Primorsky Territory became a record. Due to the increased workload, the border crossings were operating in an enhanced mode.

Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said on January 13 that by the end of 2025, 890 thousand passenger cars were imported to Russia, which is almost a third (-32.5%) less than in 2024, when imports amounted to 1.32 million units. At the same time, in the segment of used cars (older than three years), the volume of imports in this segment increased by a quarter (+25%) to 494 thousand units. The top three brands were Toyota (19.7%), Honda (15.8%) and BMW (9.3%).
