Since the end of December last year, the Ski Racing World Cup may again be of interest to the mass Russian audience. For the first time since February 2022, our athletes have been admitted to it. It's about Daria Nepryaeva and Savely Korostelev. They have already competed on three stages, two of which were part of the Christmas multi-day Tour de Ski race. Already there, Russians began to get into the top 10. And now they will try to improve their results at the first post-holiday stage of the World Cup, which will be held next weekend in Oberhof, Germany.

Since only two Russian skiers are allowed to compete internationally, their compatriots will compete on the domestic stage this weekend. On January 15, their first official races in 2026 took place — the sixth stage of the Cup of Russia started in the village of Mirny near Kazan. Two more competition days will be held on January 17-18. Among the participants are such stars as three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov, Olympic champions Tatiana Sorina and Yulia Stupak, Olympic champion Denis Spitsov, Olympic medalist Alexander Terentyev, as well as the leader of the overall standings of the Cup of Russia Sergey Ardashev.

The season in Russian biathlon also resumes after the New Year holidays. As usual, next weekend we will have some interesting matches of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
