Viktor Baturin, a businessman and former vice president of the Inteco development company, who served time in a fraud case, has been released. This was announced on January 15 by a source of Izvestia.

The businessman was arrested in July 2021. The criminal case was initiated at the request of his sister, Elena Baturina, widow of former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who reported on her brother's attempts to illegally obtain the market value of 25% of the shares of the Inteco construction company, which she founded in 1991.

For four years, Baturin was involved in the case as a witness, but in the summer of 2021 he became a defendant. From 1999 to 2005, the businessman served as vice president of the company, but in 2006 he was fired for embezzlement. After that, litigation began between him and his sister, which ended with the signing of a settlement agreement in 2008.

Two years later, Baturin accused Elena of misappropriating 25% of his shares and non-payment of salary for 2005 in the amount of 3.46 billion rubles. He submitted the documents to the arbitration court, which became the reason for the initiation of the criminal case.

In 2023, the Simonovsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Baturin to six years in a penal colony and a fine of 500 thousand rubles. The businessman was found guilty of attempted fraud, but due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, he was released from punishment for two episodes of falsification of evidence.
