UK in absentia accused AFU commander Karpusha of attacks on Belgorod

The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has accused in absentia the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Rostislav Karpusha (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring), who ordered strikes by the HIMARS system on Belgorod in early January. The agency announced this on January 15.

"Rostislav Karpusha, commander of the 19th Missile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been charged in absentia with terrorist attacks. According to the investigation, <...> he ordered the shelling of the city of Belgorod and the Belgorod region with HIMARS MLRS on January 2 and 9 of this year," the Investigative Committee wrote on its Telegram channel.

As a result of the strikes, civilians were injured, 600 thousand subscribers were left without electricity, the ministry added. The UK identifies other accomplices of these crimes, adds "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier, on December 23, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Ukrainian militant Alexei Petrakov, suspected of murdering a Russian prisoner of war. According to the investigation, in August 2025, Petrakov, having made sure that the prisoner was not armed and posed no threat, shot him with a machine gun.
