Working during the New Year holidays has become a common practice for most Russian companies. Thus, 84% of organizations confirmed that some of their employees were busy solving work tasks during the holidays. More than half of them (56%) joined the work "as needed", while 44% worked in a full-fledged mode. This is evidenced by the data of a study conducted by the accounting department for business "My Business", which was reviewed on January 17 by Izvestia.

The employees who contacted us planned their employment in different ways. For 38%, the volume of tasks was small, 33% worked fully for several days or almost all holidays. Another 20% planned to be available only for urgent matters, and 9% worked shifts. Thus, 58% considered their availability as a background, and 42% initially expected serious employment.

The respondents named the specifics of their profession as the main reason for working on non-working days (49%). A third (33%) acted on their own initiative to avoid accumulating tasks, 22% admitted to the habit of always being in touch. Financial motivation in the form of extra pay or time off was significant for only 13% of the respondents. At the same time, 17% faced forced circumstances: for 13%, such work has become an unspoken norm of the company, and 4% reported direct pressure from management or "tailbacks" since last year.

From the business side, the approach to the organization was more structured. Only 16% of companies sought to completely eliminate work on holidays. For 33%, it was part of the regular schedule (duty, shifts), and 29% counted on the involvement of key specialists. The most common model of interaction was an informal agreement to "stay in touch" (42%). At the same time, employers noted the personal initiative of employees only in 4% of cases, which is in stark contrast to their self-esteem.

The impact on the quality of rest is assessed ambiguously: 42% of employees said that work almost did not interfere with recovery, but 31% could not completely shut down, and for 13% the impact was significant. Companies are aware of the risks: they most often note the formal completion of tasks "on the go" (27%), a decrease in loyalty (22%), fatigue in January (20%) and an increase in errors (16%).

"The main risk of holiday work is not the employment itself, but the lack of clear rules. The "stay in touch" format without regulations leads to accounting errors, compensation disputes, and employee dissatisfaction. Companies that fix the formats of work, responsibility and payment in advance are entering January in a more stable state," noted the experts of the accounting department for business "My Business".

In terms of compensation, 62% of companies follow the Russian Labor Code, paying increased pay, and 29% provide time off. However, a systematic approach to regulating such work is not widespread everywhere: only 31% of organizations have clear mandatory rules, 29% apply norms selectively, and 18% rely on informal arrangements.

Earlier, on September 6, in the Selecty study and hh.ru "The source code of the ideal job of an IT specialist" named the main factors for zoomers when applying for a job. Zoomers born from 1997 to 2012 are increasingly making themselves known on the labor market and are becoming the subject of active discussions in society and the media. Generational theories are particularly relevant, which highlight their unique features, such as the priority of personal interests over work tasks.
