- The Interior Ministry told about scammers trading digital assets through Telegram bots
Fraudsters use Telegram bots to simulate trading in digital assets, while forging documents about the "legality" of the license. This was announced on January 15 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"Fraudulent Telegram bots that simulate trading in digital assets often 'confirm' their legality with licenses for credibility," the agency's Telegram channel says.
According to the agency, fraudsters often forge licenses. So, it can be issued by the Federal Financial Markets Service, which was liquidated back in 2013. In addition, an important sign of forgery is the mention of activities that are not included in the list of licensed ones, such as cryptocurrency transactions.
On January 14, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about the risk to data security and privacy of free Internet in public places. One example of such threats was the identification of a fake Wi-Fi network at Sheremetyevo Airport, which is designed to gain unauthorized access to the accounts of messenger users.
