- A fire station and two houses in St. Petersburg have acquired the status of regional monuments.
In St. Petersburg, two Art Nouveau houses and a fire station building were added to the register of cultural heritage sites of regional significance. The Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP) announced this on Wednesday, January 14.
We are talking about the objects "V.N. Zelenin House", "V.N. Krestin House" and "Fire station". All three buildings are located on Lesnoy Prospekt numbered 3, 13 and 17, respectively.
As specified by 78.ru The first house on this list was built in 1899 according to the design of military engineer and architect Valerian Zelenin. The second one was built in 1904 by architect Nikita Ivanov for the hereditary honorary citizen Vasily Krestin, in 1915 it was rebuilt and expanded. Both buildings are the epitome of Art Nouveau style.
The third object, the fire station at 17 Lesnoy, is designed in a constructivist style. The building was built in 1930 according to a design developed by architect Ivan Kaptsyug as part of a competition. Architect Georgy Simonov also participated in the development. According to the same project, with minor adjustments, fire stations were later built at 56 Zagorodny Prospekt and 12 Primorsky Prospekt.
In the fall of 2025, it was reported that the authorities of the Leningrad Region are planning to introduce new subsidies for investors who invest in the restoration of architectural monuments. We are talking about compensation for the costs of connecting to utility networks. This is one of the most "expensive" items in the estimate of restoration projects.
