A criminal investigation into the deaths of three children and their mother in a fire in an apartment building has been completed in the Moscow Region. This is reported by the regional GSU TFR and the prosecutor's office.
The person involved in the case is a 45-year-old resident of Moscow who rented an apartment in the village of Yurtsovo (Yegoryevsk municipal district). The investigation believes that on August 31, 2024, he brought two batteries from cargo tricycles to the apartment and put them to charge in the corridor next to 10 household gas cylinders and solvent tanks.
After a while, a fire started. The fire spread quickly, and the people in the apartment were cut off from the front door. The father of the family, his wife and four children jumped from the balcony to escape, writes the online publication Podmoskovye Segodnya.
Having fallen from the height of the fourth floor, the children and their mother received various injuries, and the woman died as a result. Three younger children could not get out of the fire at all, they died in the apartment, according to the prosecutor's office.
According to the Investigative Committee, a number of examinations were conducted during the investigation, including fire-technical, forensic, and psychological-psychiatric. It has been established that the fire started as a result of an explosion of one of the batteries.
The investigation of the criminal case under Part 3 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of fire safety requirements committed by a person responsible for their observance, which negligently resulted in the death of four people, as well as causing serious harm to human health") has been completed.
