Actor Yefremov was spotted near the Mikhalkov Theater after his release from prison
Mikhail Yefremov, who served more than four years in a penal colony after a fatal accident, returned to work in the theater. Footage of the actor near Nikita Mikhalkov's Workshop 12 is published by Izvestia on January 14.
The artist himself asked the director to hire him, according to a press release from Workshop 12. Mikhalkov personally introduced Yefremov to the troupe, noting that "fate taught the actor a lot" and he managed to rethink many things.
It is now known that Mikhail Efremov will be involved in the play "Without Witnesses", which will take place on the main stage of the theater in February this year. The production's artist, Yuri Cooper, called the artist a virtuoso who can play any role.
"In my opinion, he is even more interesting than Mikhail Ulyanov (the actor who played the main role in the film of the same name. — Ed.), because Ulyanov is such an established positive hero. It's hard for him to transform into a scoundrel. <...> And Misha is absolutely convincing and believable," Cooper shared with Izvestia.
According to him, rehearsals with colleagues have been going on for a long time, the artists even worked on the play over the phone.
On April 9, the actor's lawyer, Yuri Padalko, announced that Yefremov had health problems and urgently needed qualified treatment. According to the human rights activist, it is difficult for the actor to breathe and talk. Padalko also said that day that after treatment, Yefremov would return to his acting career. He expressed the hope that the actor's life will turn out well in the future.
On March 24, the Alekseevsky District Court of the Belgorod region granted the artist's petition for parole. Yefremov was banned from driving vehicles and changing his place of residence without warning until the end of the actual term.
