The average cost of new Chinese cars increased by 8.3% from August to December, reaching 3.82 million rubles by the end of last year. In the case of domestic producers, the dynamics turned out to be faster — the average price rose by 22% by the end of the year and reached 1.95 million rubles. <url> Assessment experts told Izvestia about this on January 15.

As the analysts explained, at the beginning of 2025, the new car market saw a decline in sales when warehouses were overstocked, which resulted in a steady downward trend in the average cost from March to August. However, after that, a turning point occurred, caused by the strengthening of the positions of new domestic brands in the market (in particular, Tenet and Solaris) on the one hand and the increase in retail prices for models of the current model year on the other.

Among the regions of the country, the average cost of a new car decreased the most (by 20%) over the past year in the Nizhny Novgorod region, reaching 2.51 million rubles. This is followed by Orenburg (2.38 million rubles; -19.5%) and Kaluga (1.99 million rubles; -18.2%) regions. The indicator increased the most in Saratov (36.5%; 3.65 million rubles), Bryansk (22%; 3.04 million rubles) and Novgorod (14%; 2.57 million rubles) regions.

The dynamics of the average cost of models of officially presented brands on the market is related to both the level of demand and the revision of prices due to a generation change, modernization, or the appearance/cancellation of individual trim levels. The top five models whose average cost decreased the most in a year were Hongqi H5 (-13%), Voyah Dream (-13%), Exeed TXL (-8%), Haval H5 (-7.4%) and Haval M6 (-5.4%). The experts included GAC GS8 (+6%), Changan Uni-S (+4%), Changan Uni-V (+3.6%), GAC M8 (+3%) and Changan CS95 (+3%) in the top 5 in terms of cost increase.

The day before, it was reported that prices for new passenger cars in Russia have increased by an average of 1.5–3% since January 2026. Dealers predict that cars will continue to rise in price in the first quarter of 2026, adding an average of 5-10%.
