- Pevtsov called Zolotovitsky the wisest teacher and the soul of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School.
The rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio School, Honored Artist of Russia Igor Zolotovitsky, was the wisest teacher who, over many years of work at the university, gave students a part of his soul. This was announced on January 14 by People's Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Pevtsov.
"Igor Yakovlevich was a unique man — an actor of infinite depth, the wisest teacher who gave students a part of his soul, and a true knight of the theater," Pevtsov wrote on his Telegram channel.
He called the death of Zolotovitsky, who gave more than 40 years of his life to the Art Theater, an irreparable loss that is difficult to accept and realize. The actor added that Zolotovitsky devoted his whole life to working in the theater, having worked his way up from an artist to the rector of a Studio School.
"He was one of those rare, fundamental figures on whom the very spirit of the theater rests — infinitely devoted, highly professional, absolutely theatrical," said Pevtsov.
Zolotovitsky died at the age of 65. On January 14, the Moscow Art Theater Studio School expressed its condolences to the rector's relatives and friends. The cause of death of the People's artist was cancer. The farewell to Zolotovitsky will take place at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater on Saturday, January 17. On the same day, the artist will be buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery.
Actor Nikita Vysotsky told Izvestia that it was in the role of rector and teacher that People's Artist of the Russian Federation Zolotovitsky left his unforgettable mark. He clarified that the rector himself would probably have called his work at the Studio School the most important thing in his life.
