Israeli government flight arrives in Crete amid tensions with Iran
Israel's Flight No. 1, the Zion Wing, the country's main government flight, flew to the island of Crete on January 14 amid a possible military escalation with Iran. This follows from the data of the flight tracking service Flightradar24.
According to the service, the plane took off from the Israeli Beersheba Airport and landed in Heraklion, Cyprus.
It is indicated that the flight was one hour and 47 minutes.
A day earlier, US President Don Trump called on protesters in Iran to seize government offices in the republic. He added that he had canceled all previously scheduled contacts with the Iranian authorities "until the senseless killing of protesters stops." The American president also promised that help for the protesters was "on the way."
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on January 12 that Trump would not be afraid to use American military force against Iran if circumstances required it. She confirmed that one of the representatives of the Iranian government contacted the special envoy of the American leader, Steven Witkoff, and expressed a position significantly different in tone from Tehran's public statements.
