Deaths on the roads have decreased by a quarter in five years.

Deaths on Russian roads are systematically decreasing from year to year. Vladimir Putin said this on January 14 at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. According to estimates by the deputy chairman of the government, this figure has decreased by almost 25% in five years, despite an increase in the number of cars and trucks on the roads. The problematic issue of water supply in the DPR was discussed separately: two additional water pipelines have already been built there, and the situation should improve soon.

What was discussed at the meeting

All the indicators of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" have been fulfilled, despite the first year of its implementation. By the end of 2025, the volume of residential and non-residential real estate commissioning is comparable to 2024. Vladimir Putin congratulated the builders on achieving such indicators. The road construction program has also been exceeded by 20%.

In five years, road deaths have decreased by almost 25%, despite an increase in the number of cars by 11% and cargo on the roads by 25%, as well as the development of car tourism. The authorities plan to reduce road deaths by another one and a half times by 2030. "Very good. Systematically, it decreases from year to year... Very good. This is also a merit, as is the work of the Interior Ministry, the traffic patrol service. Well done, they are also working well," Vladimir Putin stressed.

At the meeting with the governor of the region, the President also pointed out the problem with roads and assessed the growth of incomes of the population.

We also touched upon the situation with water supply in the DPR — this issue was discussed back on the "Direct Line" in December. Two additional water pipelines have now been built there. Marat Khusnullin believes that the situation will improve soon. Overall, the program for the reunified regions of the Russian Federation has been funded by 99.5%, and all planned activities have been completed, the Deputy Prime Minister added. "As you told me, the repair of the old water pipeline will cost about the same as the construction of a new one. I'm not even talking about the liberation of the territories necessary to resolve this issue, from which water was supplied in the old days. But we need to analyze everything carefully," the president concluded.
