AvtoVAZ will launch sales of the Lada Azimut crossover at the end of 2026
The start of mass production of the Lada Azimut model, the brand's first crossover, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, and sales are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter. This was stated by the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov at a press conference of the automaker on January 14, the correspondent of Izvestia reports.
"The exact price of Lada Azimut is not yet known even to me. Everything will depend on the market. We will announce it as close as possible to the start of sales, which is likely to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026," Sokolov said.
The Lada Azimut crossover was first introduced in June 2025 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). One of the main and unusual features of the model was the electric heating of the front side windows.
At that time, it was announced that Lada Azimut would receive two engines — a 1.6-liter unit with a capacity of 120 hp and a 1.8 with 132 hp. They would be paired with a six-speed "mechanics" or a CVT. Later, it is planned to release a version with a 1.5-liter turbo engine from a "friendly partner" and with a classic "automatic".
Also on this day, the head of AVTOVAZ stated that the company is capable of producing up to 600-650 thousand Lada cars per year, but such a number of cars is currently not required by the market. By the end of 2025, AvtoVAZ produced 325,000 vehicles.
