Diamonds and 50 real estate objects were found in the family of former Sochi mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky. This was confirmed on January 14 by the data of the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office (GP), which was reviewed by Izvestia.

According to the agency, over 10 years of public service, Kopaygorodsky's official income amounted to approximately 16.3 million rubles. During this time, the family had a lot of real estate at their disposal: more than 50 properties in the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg, Moscow and the Leningrad region.

At the same time, part of the property was registered to relatives and trusted persons. For example, an apartment in the capital is registered to the son of the wife of former mayor Yanina Kopaygorodskaya from her first marriage, and a plot of land with a house in Sochi is registered to a lawyer who provided services to the family.

Significant amounts of money were also found during the searches: more than 62 million rubles in cash, $40,000 and €2.1 thousand. A collection of luxury goods, including a collection of high-end alcohol, was also seized. The total value of the seized jewelry exceeds 50 million rubles. A collection of watches was also discovered, including copies of Breguet (10 million rubles) and Patek Philippe Geneve (14 million rubles) brands. The experts named two gold rings as the most valuable jewelry — with a large blue sapphire and an emerald, estimated at 13 and 11 million rubles, respectively.

According to the investigation, from 2022 to 2024, Kopaygorodsky stole two plots of land in Sochi with a total value of at least 26 million rubles. He is also accused of receiving 248 million rubles from business representatives for patronage and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.

The day before, it was reported that as part of the lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office against Kopaygorodsky and his wife, a collection of luxury wines and watches would be turned into state revenue. The prosecutor's office noted that the expenses of the ex-mayor of Sochi clearly do not correspond to his official income.

In November last year, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office approved a criminal indictment against Kopaigorodsky, his wife Yanina and assistant Alexander Pasunko. Kopaygorodsky was detained on September 25 in the special operation zone, where he had gone some time ago as a volunteer. At the same time, he was arrested until November 18. The ex-mayor is charged with embezzlement of 3.7 million rubles, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is also being investigated for involvement in other crimes.
