AvtoVAZ is capable of producing up to 600-650 thousand Lada cars per year, however, the market currently does not require such a number of cars. This was stated by the head of the company Maxim Sokolov, the Izvestia correspondent reports from the company's press conference on January 14.

"In 2026, we expect to produce about 400,000 vehicles at sites in Tolyatti, Izhevsk, St. Petersburg and Chechnya, which is a quarter more than in 2025. We produce not as much as we can, but as much as the market needs. We assume that in 2026 the country's car market will not grow much and, according to our forecasts, will amount to about 1.5 million cars," Sokolov shared.

The head of the car company noted that the indicators of the Russian car market this year will largely depend on macroeconomics, the ruble exchange rate, the key interest rate and credit conditions.

In addition, AvtoVAZ said that the company is ready to export up to 30 thousand cars. In 2025, 20.7 thousand cars were shipped to other countries, the share of exports in total shipments of AVTOVAZ increased to 6%.

The certification process for Lada cars has already been completed in Vietnam. Export shipments to Abkhazia, Egypt, Libya and Venezuela have also been launched. New dealerships have opened in Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Yemen. The company is expanding its presence in Venezuela, Libya, Egypt and Abkhazia.
