The FSB detained a 22-year-old resident of Bashkiria for preparing sabotage at fuel and energy complex facilities.

Employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a 22-year-old resident of Bashkiria, who was preparing to set fire to a transformer substation. This was reported on January 14 in the press service of the FSB in the region.

"The Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan has suppressed the illegal activities of a 22-year-old resident of the republic who planned to commit sabotage against facilities of the fuel and energy complex," TASS cites the text of the message.

Previously, the young man entered into correspondence with an unknown person in the Telegram messenger, where he was offered to set fire to a transformer substation for 23 thousand rubles. As a result of the search, law enforcement officers found tools and things used to prepare for sabotage in the attacker's house.

A criminal case was opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sabotage"), which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 20 years.

Earlier, on January 13, the FSB Public Relations center reported the arrest on suspicion of treason of a 17-year-old resident of Mariupol, who was collecting data on the location of military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for military intelligence of Ukraine. A criminal case was opened against the teenager under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("High treason").
