Khabarovsk man faces up to 2 years in prison for illegal tree cutting
A resident of the Khabarovsk Territory faces up to two years in prison for illegally felling trees. The damage from his actions was estimated at 40 thousand rubles.
According to IA AmurMedia, in December 2025, a representative of the forestry department contacted the police with a complaint about illegal logging. During the operational search measures, it was possible to establish the involvement of a 49-year-old resident of the village of Voronezhskoye in this crime.
The man was detained. He admitted his guilt. The police seized a chainsaw, an axe and sawn trees.
According to the man, he went into the forest and cut down trees for personal needs, believing that they would not find out about it. The man compensated for the material damage caused.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident under the article "Illegal logging of forest plantations." The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to two years.
