Vladimir Olenchenko, a political scientist and specialist in Europe, expressed the opinion that preparations for war in Europe could lead to conflict between the countries of the European Union (EU).

In conversation with Lenta.On Tuesday, January 13, the expert noted that the militarization of Europe primarily carries the risk of war within the continent itself, and not against an external enemy. According to him, attempts to make military preparations anti—Russian have already been observed in history — on the eve of the First and Second World Wars - and then they also led to internal conflicts and the redistribution of spheres of influence in Europe.

The expert believes that territorial and political claims between the countries, including the US interest in Greenland, serve as an alarming signal. He expressed the opinion that the intensification of militarism and the transfer of the EU to a "military track" against the background of tense domestic politics could provoke an intra-European conflict.
