The former vice-governor of the Ivanovo region was detained in a criminal case.

The former deputy chairman of the Government of the Ivanovo region was detained on suspicion of abuse of office, and a criminal case was opened. This was announced on January 13 by the regional prosecutor's office.

"With the coordinating role of the Prosecutor's Office of the Ivanovo region, the investigative unit of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Ivanovo region has opened a criminal case against the former deputy chairman of the regional government. He is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official authority)," the department's Telegram channel says.

According to investigators, the defendant promoted a representative of the commercial environment to the position of head of one of the municipalities of the region for selfish motives.
