- Kim Jong-un's sister demanded an apology from Seoul and rejected the improvement of relations.
The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong, demanded an apology from the South Korean authorities for sending a drone to the country, and also pointed out the impossibility of improving relations between Seoul and Pyongyang. This was reported on January 13 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"All Seoul's rosy dreams of the so-called 'improvement of Korean—Korean relations' are nothing more than unrealistic illusions <...>, no matter how much the authorities (Seoul — Ed.) pretend to be friendly and indulge in empty fantasies, the reality of Korean-Korean relations will never change," she said.
Kim Yo Jong noted that the launch of a reconnaissance drone by South Korea is a "provocative violation of sovereignty." Kim Yo Jong also warned neighbors that such provocations would have to "pay an unimaginable price."
The DPRK accused the Republic of Korea (ROK) of launching an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) towards its border on January 4. The drone flew near the South Korean city of Icheon, after which it ended up in the airspace of the DPRK and was shot down.
