- The leader of the "gang of the Forest" refused to answer the question about the confession of guilt in the murders.
Dmitry Lesnyakov, the leader of the Forest gang, who is accused of murdering two or more people, refused to answer a question about a guilty plea. This was reported on January 13 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the Moscow Regional Court.
Other members of the organized criminal group, Denis Arkhipov, Andrey Yeremov, Anatoly Konkov, Vladimir Panasenko and Alexander Sharykin, who are also on trial, pleaded not guilty.
One of the episodes of the case occurred in 2003. Accomplices lured three people to a cafe in Lyubertsy, where they attacked and strangled them. After that, the gang members destroyed the tracks and secretly buried the bodies near the village of Oktyabrsky.
In addition, in March 2000, two members of the organized crime group decided to get rid of one of the gang members, who was hiding from the investigation and could put the group at risk of exposure. The former accomplice was immobilized and poisoned with a lethal injection, and then his allegedly accidental drug overdose was staged.
The group managed to get on the trail in 2009. The members of the Forest Gang have committed more than 40 particularly serious crimes.
A correspondent for Izvestia reported from the courtroom on March 13, 2024, that the Moscow City Court had issued guilty verdicts in the case of contract killings of members of Lesnyakov's gang. The defendants were sentenced from ten to life imprisonment.
