Catalan alpine skiing champion Ares Masip was trapped in an avalanche while skiing in the mountains of Andorra. The incident occurred at an altitude of about 2,400 m near the town of Simde de l’Ortel. This was announced on January 12 by the BBC television and radio company.

It is noted that the snow mass covered her along with the dog in the area, which is considered an area with a low avalanche risk. At the same time, according to the skier, she is well acquainted with this route.

"It's good to remember that there is simply no zero risk," she was quoted as saying on Instagram (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

On January 10, the BFMTV television network reported the deaths of two skiers in southeastern France in an avalanche in the Val d'Isere commune. It is noted that when the tourists were found, they were in critical condition and could not be resuscitated.
