Chita resident received a prison sentence for publicly calling for terrorism on social networks

A resident of Chita received a prison sentence for publicly calling for terrorism on social networks. This was announced on January 13 by the Anti-Terrorist Commission of the Trans-Baikal Territory.

"The person involved in one of the social networks carried out calls for actions aimed at forcibly changing the constitutional order of the Russian Federation," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that the man had previously been prosecuted for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) and calling for extremism on the Internet.

He was prosecuted under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities committed using electronic or information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet").

The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced him to five years in prison to serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony with a ban on the use of information networks for a period of three years. At the moment, the verdict has not yet entered into force.

On January 12, it became known that the verdict of Victoria Shinkaruk, a former employee of the Belgorod Region administration (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation), who was accused of assisting terrorist activities, came into force.

In December 2024, Izvestia reported that Shinkaruk was sentenced to 21 years in a penal colony in a case of facilitating terrorist activities. It was noted that her accomplice Alexander Kholodkov (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) also received 21 years in a high-security penal colony.

Before that, in August of the same year, Shinkaruk and Kholodkov were accused of complicity in terrorist activities in the interests of their Ukrainian supervisors. The defendants not only transferred money in the amount of more than 500 thousand rubles to prepare a terrorist attack, but also planted explosives in the caches. In addition, they were charged with a number of crimes, including participation in a terrorist community, preparation for a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior agreement, as well as preparation for the illegal manufacture of explosives. They did not admit their guilt.

The attackers were also added to the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation.
