Medvedev ironically commented on Trump's intention to annex Greenland

On January 12, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, ironically suggested that in the absence of actions by US President Donald Trump, the residents of Greenland might decide to join the Russian Federation in their referendum.

"Trump needs to hurry. According to unverified information, a sudden referendum may take place in a few days, in which residents of the entire 55,000 Greenland can vote for joining Russia," he wrote on the MAX messenger.

He noted that in this case Greenland will become the 90th subject of Russia.

The day before, Trump said that Washington would "one way or another" take control of Greenland. According to him, if the United States does not do this, Russia or China will take the island.
