France wants to ban Ukraine from using a €90 billion loan from the European Union (EU) to purchase non-European weapons. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on January 12.

The Netherlands and France are arguing over the terms of the EU loan, which is given to Ukraine for military and budgetary support. So, Paris wants to introduce a condition on the purchase of exclusively European weapons. However, according to the Netherlands, in addition to European weapons, Ukraine needs to purchase ammunition from third countries.

"The Hague claims that European countries are not producing certain weapons in sufficient volume to help Ukraine. <...> They propose to allocate about €15 billion for the purchase of foreign weapons, which are currently unavailable in Europe," the article says.

The absence of an agreement reached by EU leaders on the expropriation of frozen Russian assets was reported on December 19. At the same time, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, commenting on the news, called it a victory for international law.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on December 25 that the EU leadership, which decided to send €90 billion to support Kiev instead of investing in Ukraine's development, was solely interested in continuing the conflict. She noted that the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, is not going to repay the EU debt.
