The Russian Wrestling Federation will take action on the fact of a brawl that occurred after one of the duels at the championship of the North Caucasian Federal District in freestyle wrestling in Grozny. This was announced on January 12 by the President of the Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili.
"Everyone is aware of the situation, measures will be taken according to the data specified in the protocol of the commission. Our disciplinary commission is working quite effectively, and there are knowledgeable and responsible people there. Therefore, believe me, the episode will not be ignored," he told TASS.
Mamiashvili noted that he had already discussed the incident with the head of the disciplinary commission of the federation. According to him, the incident should be a lesson not only for athletes, but also for coaches, as well as judges, who are obliged to prevent such situations.
"When a representative of the host territory allows such a provocation at a home event, it doesn't make anyone happy. But they are all our young men, children, it's okay, we are slowly educating them," added the head of the Russian Wrestling Federation.
The incident occurred on January 12 at the championship of the North Caucasus Federal District in freestyle wrestling in Grozny after the end of the match between David Vaniev, representing the Republic of North Ossetia — Alania, and Turpal Akhloev from Chechnya. A conflict arose between the athletes, which escalated into a brawl involving several dozen spectators and representatives of the teams.
