Finnish police have released the Fitburg vessel, which was detained on December 31 last year, allegedly on suspicion of damaging a telecommunications cable. This was reported on January 12 by the Reuters news agency.

"Finnish police announced on Monday that they had lifted the seizure of a vessel that was detained on suspicion of sabotaging an underwater telecommunications cable running from Helsinki to Estonia through the Gulf of Finland," the material says.

According to the police statement, the vessel will leave the territorial waters of Finland. At the same time, some members of the vessel will be prohibited from staying in Finland and Estonia.

Earlier, on December 31, 2025, the Finnish Coast Guard announced the detention of the Fitburg vessel on suspicion of allegedly damaging an underwater telecommunications cable in the Gulf of Finland.
