- The SVR reported on Patriarch Bartholomew's plans to oust Orthodoxy from the Baltic countries
Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who has already managed to "dismember" Orthodox Ukraine, intends to continue his schismatic actions on the territory of the Baltic states. This was announced on January 12 by the press office of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
According to intelligence data, his intentions are supported by the British special services, which are actively fueling Russophobic sentiments in European countries.
"Bartholomew found common ground with the authorities of the Baltic states in an effort to bring confusion to the Russian Orthodox world. Relying on ideological allies in the form of local nationalists and neo—Nazis, he is trying to separate the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Orthodox churches from the Moscow Patriarchate," the press office reports.
For this purpose, in particular, Patriarch Bartholomew is luring priests and congregations of the churches of the Baltic countries into "puppet religious structures" artificially created by Constantinople. At the same time, his plans include spreading his insidious influence to Eastern Europe. So, in order to strike at the "particularly obstinate" Serbian Orthodox Church, he is ready to grant autocephaly to the unrecognized "Montenegrin Orthodox Church."
"This "devil in the flesh" is obsessed with the idea of ousting Russian Orthodoxy from the territory of the Baltic states, establishing in its place church structures completely controlled by the Phanar," the SVR concluded.
As stated on October 1, 2025 at the United Nations (UN), attempts to ideologically justify the dissolution of religious organizations in Ukraine risk criminalizing freedom of thought, religion, and beliefs. Five UN experts, including the organization's special Rapporteurs on freedom of religion or belief and on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the fight against terrorism, have expressed their concerns about the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Ukraine.
