In the city of Balakovo, Saratov region, six people, including children, died, presumably as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in a house. This was reported on January 12 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
"The bodies of six people were found, including a 45-year-old woman and a 50—year—old man and their two young sons, aged nine and four, the rest are being identified," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
Previously, the cause of death could have been carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of the operation of gas equipment in the house. It is noted that a criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence to two or more persons").
On January 9, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Tatarstan reported that a criminal case had been opened into the deaths of four people as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. It was noted that the cause of the incident could be a violation of the rules of operation.
