- Miroshnik announced the shooting of civilians in Selidovo by the Ukrainian Armed Forces for refusing to leave
The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) shot Ukrainian citizens in Selidovo, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), for refusing to leave their homes. This was announced on January 12 by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
"It must be remembered that in Selidovo, the Ukrainian punishers, being citizens of Ukraine, shot the same as themselves, citizens of Ukraine, whom they classified as "zhdunov" and "collaborators" only because they did not want to leave their homes and their land along with the units of the Ukrainian Nazis leaving the city," — TASS quotes him as saying.
Miroshnik added that the investigation has numerous testimonies from surviving residents who conveyed promises of Ukrainian militants to "kill everyone and destroy everything" when leaving the city. According to the ambassador, about 130 civilians killed by Ukrainian militants in Selidov is a preliminary figure that is likely to increase.
"About 130 civilians killed by Ukrainian militants in Selidov is only a preliminary figure, which will certainly be clarified, but most likely only in an upward direction," Miroshnik stressed.
He noted that despite the liberation of the city by Russian troops more than a year ago, it remains in the "red zone" near the line of contact, which makes it difficult to carry out full-fledged investigative actions, including the exhumation of bodies.
The Ombudsman of the DPR, Daria Morozova, reported on December 29 last year that in the settlements liberated from the armed formations of Ukraine (VFU), people "expect horror" because of the atrocities of the militants. She noted that it is still unsafe to carry out the work of civil services, including criminologists and forensic experts, in such settlements.
On October 3, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation reported that 27,000 civilians had suffered from the crimes of the Kiev regime since 2014. Since the same year, 8,167 cases of crimes committed by the Kiev regime have been initiated.
