Three American figure skaters with Russian roots joined the U.S. Olympic team
Figure skaters Ilya Malinin, Andrew Torgashev and Maxim Naumov are included in the U.S. national team for the 2026 Olympic Games (OI-2026). This became known on January 11.
According to Sport-Express, the team was formed following the results of the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which took place in St. Louis.
Three U.S. representatives in men's singles skating have Russian roots. One of the representatives, Maxim Naumov, is the son of the tragically deceased 1994 world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.
Speaking about the U.S. figure skating team at the OI 2026, the women's team includes world champion Alice Liu, three-time U.S. champion Amber Glenn and World Championship medalist Isabeau Levito. Elijah Kam and Danny O'Shea, as well as Emily Chan and Akira Spencer Hou, became members of the US national team in pair skating. The United States will be represented in ice dancing by Olympic team winners Edison Chalk and Evan Bates, U.S. Championship medalists Emilia Zingas and Vadim Kolesnik, as well as championship medalists Cristina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko.
