The Russian Federation has begun developing an analog of the Lancet for use in conjunction with the Prince Vandal

The creators of the Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky (KVN) fiber-optic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are working on the production of a barrage munition with a range of more than 50 km, which could be used in conjunction with KVN. This was announced on January 12 by the general designer of the manufacturing organization.

"It is planned to produce a barrage munition with a range of more than 50 km and the ability to work in tandem with the Prince Vandal of Novgorod, including with relaying communications through it. The application scenario is similar to the Lancet, which has already proven itself on the front, only within the framework of our ecosystem," TASS quoted him as saying.

In addition, the specialists are currently working on a number of other projects. Among them is a jet—powered attack drone. It is reported that the device will be able to reach speeds of more than 500 km / h. Russians will soon be able to learn about the combat use of such a UAV from reports from the line of combat contact.

Work is also underway to modernize another drone, the Prince Prophetic Oleg (KVO).

"This year we launched the serial production of the Prince Oleg Prophetic. This is a reconnaissance aircraft with a flight time of more than two hours. We are currently actively refining this product, primarily working on increasing the time in the air. Samples that fly for 3.5 hours have now been tested," the source said.

What tasks the device will be able to perform in a war zone

Alexey Chadaev, General Director of the Ushkuynik Scientific and Production Center, said on December 25 that the "Prince Vandal of Novgorod" had destroyed equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the total cost is about two armies of Germany. It is emphasized that as a result, the enemy has lost any ability for mechanized offensives.

On November 6, Chadaev also said that the newest fiber-optic UAV "Prince Prophetic Oleg", designed for reconnaissance at a range of up to 45 km, is already being used in the zone of a special military operation (SVO). These kamikaze drones are ideal for hunting vehicles, but require targeting from the air. In conjunction with a scout that uses a fiber-optic drone, they can effectively perform tasks that were previously solved using commercial drones such as Mavic.
