A live Christmas tree must be sawn, packed and delivered to the reception point after using the tree for the New Year. This was announced on January 12 by Olga Turunina, a member of the Russian Bar Association, lawyer at Leges Bureau Law Firm.

"After the holidays, citizens are required to comply with local rules for landscaping and waste management. In large cities, there are specialized reception points where you can donate wood. After processing, the Christmas tree is used as fertilizer or bedding for animals," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

According to the expert, this approach will allow Russians to avoid fines for improper disposal of Christmas trees.
