In the United States, ICE officers arrested the former Minister of Finance of Ghana
In the United States, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have arrested former Ghanaian Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta. This was announced on January 11 by the Embassy of the Republic in Washington on the social network X.
"The Ghanaian Embassy in Washington, D.C., confirms that the former Ghanaian Finance Minister, Mr. Kenneth Nana Yau Ofori-Atta, has been taken into custody by ICE in the United States," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
It is noted that the diplomats of the African country contacted the place where the ex-official is being held to clarify the circumstances of his detention. However, Ofori-Atta himself refused to communicate with his compatriots without the presence of a lawyer.
In the United States, protesters against the actions of ICE on January 11 rallied in front of the 58-storey skyscraper Trump Tower (Tower of US President Donald Trump) in New York. The participants carried posters against the policies of Trump and ICE. Some protesters came to the event with flags of the USSR.
