Germany and Israel have signed an agreement on the creation of a "cyber dome"
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed an agreement on combating digital threats, which, among other things, provides for the creation of a so-called "cyber dome" to jointly repel cyber attacks. This was reported on January 11 by the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
"Israel is internationally recognized as one of the leading technological countries in this field. For many years, he has been using systems that automatically analyze and block digital attacks. This experience will now be used in the development of a similar protection system in Germany," the newspaper reports.
It is noted that the system will automatically detect cyber attacks and help defend against strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In addition to protecting against digital threats, the agreement between Germany and Israel provides for joint efforts in the fight against terrorism, including from the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and the Yemeni Houthis.
Earlier, on December 20, the French Ministry of Sports, Youth and Public Life was subjected to a cyberattack, during which the personal data of millions of citizens was stolen. A complaint was filed with the French National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL) in connection with the incident. The agency also stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to protect the data and prevent further leaks.
The newspaper Le Figaro reported on December 17 that hackers who stole the data of more than 16.4 million people as a result of a large-scale cyberattack are blackmailing the French Interior Ministry. According to the newspaper, a user with the nickname Indra wrote that hackers had gained access to many documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including lists of wanted persons, criminal records with data of criminals, victims and witnesses.
