The economist explained the procedure for refusing to fly abroad
If Russians are not allowed abroad because of debts, it is necessary to calmly find out the reason from the border guards and pay the debt in any available way. About this on January 11, "Gazeta.Ru" was reported by Kirill Shcherbakov, an economist, associate professor of the Department of Natural Sciences at the Synergy University.
"After paying the debt, it is usually impossible to fly on this flight, since the decision is made not by the airport, but by the border guard service based on the database. Paying the debt by itself does not remove the ban," Shcherbakov said.
He added that border guards do not accept checks or oral explanations and do not have the authority to lift restrictions on the spot.
Lifting the flight ban takes from several business days to 2-3 weeks, depending on the speed of payment transfer and the work of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) units. Exceptions are possible only in case of an error, for example, if a restriction is imposed on a namesake or on an already repaid debt. The expert advises checking for debts and travel restrictions 2-3 weeks before the trip through the FSSP website and the Gosuslugi portal.
Earlier, on October 7, 2025, it was reported that Ulyana, a resident of St. Petersburg, spent four days in a deportation room in South Korea after refusing to let her through passport control. She had all the documents and tickets issued, but she could not answer the questions of the Korean border guards in the local language. The Russian woman was banned from entering the country for several years.
