Ophthalmologist Kornilova gave tips on protecting the eyes from blue light
Blue light from the screens of smartphones, tablets and laptops affects not only visual comfort, but also human biorhythms. She told the Newspaper about this on January 11.Ru" ophthalmologist, Head of the professional development department of Johnson & Johnson LLC, Candidate of Medical Sciences Elena Kornilova.
"When working with gadgets for a long time, the eyes experience additional stress. It's not just fatigue: excess blue light can disrupt sleep and reduce concentration," the expert noted.
Kornilova emphasized that it is possible to protect the eyes in a comprehensive way — to properly organize the workplace, adjust the brightness and contrast of the screen, use night mode and blue light filters, and take regular pauses.
"Short breaks and the "20-20-20" rule — every 20 minutes, look at an object about six meters (20 feet) away and hold it there for 20 seconds — help relax the muscles responsible for focusing," the ophthalmologist added.
Earlier, on December 16, 2025, it was reported that pediatric ophthalmologist Igor Aznauryan recommended following the 20-20-20 rule and properly organizing the workspace to reduce eye strain. He noted that compliance with these measures is important for adults and children, especially when working with computers and small screens for a long time.
