In Kiev, they spoke about the risks of deploying EU troops after the Hazel strike
The deployment of European troops in Ukraine may be a reason for the use of the Russian Oreshnik system. This was announced on January 10 by Christoph Wanner, a correspondent of the Die Welt TV channel in Kiev.
"Perhaps this is a hint that under no circumstances should the Europeans think about sending soldiers here if it is not approved by Russia," he said.
According to him, there is a discussion in the West about the deployment of troops in Ukraine, but ignoring Moscow's position risks leading the situation to a dead end.
"Is this a signal that this is a precision weapon that can be used at any time in Ukraine?" the correspondent asked.
Earlier, on January 9, it was reported that the deployment of the Russian Oreshnik system had aggravated the split in NATO. Austrian Colonel Markus Reisner noted that the main factor of disagreement was not the missile itself, but the actions of US President Donald Trump and his interest in Greenland. According to the expert, Europe needs to reconsider its positions on air and missile defense, taking into account the strength of Russian weapons.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on October 29, 2025, that Europe was demonstrating a militaristic reaction, and threats were being made from a number of capitals that required additional protection measures. This underscores the importance of the Oreshnik system for Russian strategic interests.
