In 2025, about 6.3 million Bibles were sold in the UK, which was the highest figure in the history of statistics. This was reported on January 10 by The Guardian newspaper with reference to the SPCK Group publishing house.

"Atheism used to be seen as rebellious behavior. Now it's the other way around. The younger generation is more interested in practicing Christianity," said Sam Richardson, Executive Director of the SPCK Group.

According to him, the growing interest in religion among young people is associated with "global political and social changes and the development of artificial intelligence."

It is noted that sales increased by 134% compared to 2019, and the number of young people attending church increased from 4% in 2018 to 16% in 2024.

Earlier, on December 23, 2025, it was reported that rare pages of a handwritten Bible from the 11th century, which were stolen from the Russian National Library, appear from time to time at European auctions. These lots were sold at auctions in the UK and Spain, and the names of the buyers remain unknown. Experts note that due to the political situation in Russia, it is now much more difficult to suspend such transactions and return cultural property.
