To restore digestion and normalize weight after the New Year holidays, it is worth adding vegetables with a high fiber content to the diet. This was announced on January 10 by nutritionist Ekaterina Guzman in an interview with Gazeta.Ru»

"The weight associated with fluid retention and overload of the digestive system goes away by itself within 7-10 days. Among the foods that really help are vegetables with a high fiber content. These are cabbage, beetroot, zucchini, pumpkin, broccoli, carrots," she said.

The expert noted that drastic measures are not needed to normalize the body's functioning after the holidays. It will be enough to switch to a regular diet, while adding water, protein and fiber. After an overload of the digestive tract, baked, stewed and steamed vegetables are best absorbed.

It will be useful to switch to sugar-free dairy products, as well as whole grains such as oatmeal, buckwheat and brown rice.

"Choose whole-grain oatmeal like Hercules or Monastic oatmeal. Low—fat protein foods are another aid in weight normalization. These are fish, eggs, turkey, chicken, and legumes. Protein supports muscle mass, accelerates the recovery of metabolism, reduces cravings for sweets," the doctor advised.
