Alexander Ovechkin personally congratulated Stamkos on his 600th NHL goal.

On January 9, the Russian captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club congratulated Canadian Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos on scoring his 600th goal in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.

To set such a number of goals, the Canadian needed to participate in 1,207 games. In total, he earned 1,218 (600+618) points.

"Ovechkin holds the NHL record for the most goals scored in the regular season. This week, he reached the mark of 915 goals in 1,535 matches," Sport—Express also notes the achievements of the Russian athlete.

Ovechkin scored one goal on January 8 in Washington's home match with Dallas in the NHL regular season and updated his record. The meeting ended with the defeat of the capital's team with a score of 1:4. Ovechkin's goal was Washington's only scoring point. Radek Faksa, Sam Steele, Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz scored for Dallas.
