The game between HC Utah and St. Louis began with a fight between the attackers
The game between the Utah Mammoth hockey club and HC St. Louis Blues began with a fight between two strikers — Russian hockey player Alexei Toropchenko and Canadian athlete Jack McBain. The fight started in the second second of the match on January 10th.
"After exchanging a series of punches, the 26-year—old Canadian knocked his opponent onto the ice, after which the referees intervened and dragged the hockey players apart," Sport-Express reported.
Subsequently, the attacking teams received a five-minute penalty, and the match continued.
Earlier, on December 5 last year, Russian striker and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin became involved in a fight with Frank Watrano of the Anaheim Ducks in a National Hockey League (NHL) match. The incident occurred at the beginning of the third period with the score 3-3, when Vatrano pushed Capitals defender Jacob Chikran, as a result of which he crashed into the board. Ovechkin and his teammate Dylan Strome immediately stood up for their partner.
