Turkey has expressed its willingness to take on security issues in the Black Sea
If an agreement is reached on Ukraine, Turkey will be ready to take over security issues in the Black Sea. This was stated on January 9 by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in an interview with TRT Haber TV channel.
"As a NATO country on the Black Sea, we see the need to take responsibility for the security of the Black Sea. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has given instructions to the armed forces in this direction. We also worked as a ministry. If an agreement is signed, Turkey is ready to take over the issue of security in the Black Sea," he said.
The diplomat noted that the country's security issues, such as terrorism in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, continue to be on the agenda.
"The marine area is currently our area of increased attention," Fidan said.
Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced on December 23 that Ankara plans to expand its navigation safety control system to the Black Sea. According to him, the Turkish authorities are making serious efforts in the field of navigation safety.
Erdogan said on December 16 that attacks on ships in the Black Sea pose a threat to the safety of navigation. According to Erdogan, such attacks "do not bring any benefit to anyone."
