For improper disposal of a Christmas tree, a fine of several thousand rubles is threatened. Olga Turunina, a member of the Russian Bar Association and lawyer at Leges Bureau Law Firm, told about this on January 10.

"The tree belongs to large—sized waste, and according to the norms it cannot be thrown into dumpsters at home, this will entail a fine of several thousand rubles," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

8.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Non-compliance with environmental requirements in the management of industrial and consumer waste"), a fine of 3 thousand rubles is provided for violations during the disposal of Christmas trees. in case of repeated violations during the year, the amount will be increased to 5 thousand rubles.

Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of Russia (CC RF) for the public examination of draft laws and other regulations, also said on January 8 that a fine of up to 3 thousand rubles could be imposed for improper disposal of a Christmas tree. It is noted that in order to properly dispose of the Christmas tree, it is necessary to take it for recycling to special points. The products of recycled wood and needles will be used to make fertilizers and animal bedding.
